Savoring Italy: Recipes and Reflections on Italian Cooking by Michele Scicolone

COOKERY This lavishly illustrated oversized book, the first in a new series from Williams-Sonoma, is reminiscent of the titles in Collins's 'The Beautiful Cookbook' series. The full-page color photographs of bucolic Italian landscapes and of almost every dish are striking, but with recipes and text by the author of The Fresh Taste of Italy, this is no mere coffee-table book. Some of the 140 recipes are classics; others are less well known regional specialties that she discovered on her many visits to Italy. Headnotes are readable and informative, and there's a good glossary of ingredients. Highly recommended.; 256 pg.-
